




The Sugars may be from the bustling, sophisticated metropolis of Leeds, but their sound comes straight from the milkshake parlours of fifties America. The three-piece’s likeable debut 'Doo-Wop' is a feisty fuzz-blues number propped up by the poptones of, er, doo-wop. Convincingly and crisply delivered with snappy girl/boy vocals, Doo-Wop sounds like a mix of The White Stripes and The Pipettes with a dash of the Shangri-Las, which, as B-Side ‘T.V.’ confirms, may not be the most original cake ever baked, but is still a sweet recipe nonetheless.
